Part 1 - Business Proposal
The task was to design and develop a product that contributes to the circular economy in Qatar. We noticed that most make-up removers irritate and dry out our skin, which can lead to breakouts. Furthermore, the disposal of make-up removers (wipes, cotton pads, or the bottles of the solution) alone produces a large amount of plastic. With our product, we hope to develop an organic, environmentally friendly make-up remover that can be reused indefinitely.
Part 2 - Ideation Presentation
Our circular economy product was presented to our peers and academic faculty and staff. In order to have a successful product, it is vital to exhibit it to peers in order to receive insight from a different perspective and be able to enhance or fix the product. Therefore by showing our initial product design to our fellow classmates and faculty we were able to obtain their feedback and see if there are any misconceptions in the design.
Part 3 - Showcase Poster
We presented our circular economy product at TAMUQ's STEAM Showcase 2022 which is hosted every year to showcase students' innovative ideas that have been worked on throughout the semester. My team and I have been designing a circular economy product that might be used in Qatar to reduce the country's carbon footprint. The circular economy product is designed to produce no waste once it has been used and can be reused multiple times.
Part 4 - Kickstarter Video
Many women in Qatar apply make-up on a regular basis and use make-up remover to clean the residue from their faces. Wipes and micellar water are two of the most popular make-up removers in the world. Both contain non-biodegradable plastic, which ends up being disposed of in landfills, which harms the wildlife and the environment, or burnt, releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. As a way to help reduce our carbon footprint, we set out to manufacture a make-up remover set that could be repurposed and reused effectively.
