The Pequot war was fought in 1636-1637. The war was between English settlers from Connecticut, Massachusetts, the Saybrook colonies, and their Native American allies against the Pequot tribe. The primary reason for the war was to control the fur trade and to strip the Pequots from their political and economic dominance in the region.
The Fundamental Orders describe the powers and limitations of the government by the Connecticut River towns. It created an outline for the type of government they wanted, which has access to the open ocean for trading. This short document contains some principles that were applied in the United States government, which is founded on the rights of an individual, including how those rights are ensured by the government. Thomas Hooker, John Haynes, and Roger Ludlow wrote the first written constitution.
After settling, and the end of the war between America and England, Connecticut managed to find itself as the 5th state formed in the United States
Connecticut, a free state that took part in the civil war to emancipate slavery and had a remarkable role in providing the Union Army and Union Navy. Most importantly, it never forgot the painful memories and kept the legacies alive.
